How inflation affects you - BBC presents the personal inflation calculator

If you need an estimate of your personal inflation rate, the personal inflation calculator can help you.

It aestimates your personal inflation rate more accurately.

It works by making adjustments to it based on differences between an individual's, or individual household's, spending patterns and the national pattern and not just the traditional measure of overall national inflation, like the Retail Prices Index (RPI), the long-standing and familiar domestic measure of inflation.

It allows you to enter how much you/your household spends on key items.

The calculator was developed by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
